RESTORING CHROME'S BOOKMARKS

Chrome has this annoying habit of randomly removing all, some or most of your bookmarks for literally no reason. This is how to fix that:

~ Close Chrome and do the following. Might want to copy this text to a text file or something for reference.

~ C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

~ "NAME" is your user name by the way.

~ Find Bookmarks and Bookmarks.bak

~ Rename Bookmarks to Bookmarks.old

~ Rename Bookmarks.bak to Bookmarks

~ Restart Chrome and your Bookmarks should now be back where you left them.

Older versions of windows will have the files in a different location in a folder in C: called "Documents and Settings" - depending on the version of windows it can be a bit hard to find actually. An example is XP has it in "C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default"

You might want to keep a backup of the bookmarks someplace other than in the AppData location as well, just in case. By the way, after you restore the Bookmarks, the icons for them will mostly be gone until you visit the site again.
