Kate (2021) A Review

Kate is a hard-nosed assassin targeting a Yakuza Clan in Tokyo. Things don't turn out the way she expected to say the least.

To start with she was trained from a young age (not a child) to be a killer by her "handler". This handler is an extremely manipulative person who seems to only care about himself and his gathering of wealth. He does use the illusion of loving Kate as control and manipulation.

Back to the story. Kate kills a crime boss in front of his young daughter. This breaks Kate's heart, but she is dedicated to the job.

Later on she tries to kill the brother of the first man, but misses, because she is sick and losing focus. She ends up in a hospital and finds out she is dying from radiation poisoning. NOTE: it's the same element used by the KGB in a well know case of poisoning.

She tries to exact revenge. She takes the kid and tries to use her to get to the big boss. However she has feelings for the kid and this is getting in the way. The kid ends up bonding deeply with Kate as well.

The struggle to try and finish off the big boss and get revenge is epic. There is a hell of a lot of great fight scenes in this movie. The not so well known streets of Tokyo are a great and gritty back drop and the contrast with the opulent homes of the crime lords is remarkable.

The acting is very well done. The script is great. They put a lot of time and money into this film and it payed off. The result is an epic drama with a hell of a lot of action, violence, blood and emotion. It's well worth your time. At this current moment it's on Netflix.
