The Gospel of Prosperity? What Did Jesus Say?
What did Jesus actually say about acquiring wealth according the the Word of God (The Christian Bible)?
Matthew 6:24 (NIV)
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Matthew 19:23-24 (NIV)
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”
This was a man who went out of his way to condemn the collection of wealth, and to speak of helping the poor with your resources. He also spoke about treating newcomers to your land well and kindly. He sure as heck would not have been putting migrants into bloody camps in the Florida Swamps.
To be honest, the majority of people speaking about Christen values these days, have not one clue what Jesus had to say - the would treat him badly in fact, if he was alive today.
