I Thank God For The Great Days

I forget that when I’m thankful for all the great stuff I have in my life, then I tend to be happy. I am one of the majority of people in the free world that fall for a fallacy where people think that if you have something you will be happy. It’s always something stupid that I don’t need at all. Normally it’s something like pizza or a load of wings – a totally fleeting thing that would be a moment of joy when I’m consuming it, but then it’s gone, and I feel the need again for the next thing.

I’m getting better with this. I try hard to remember life is about the interactions we have with friends and loved ones. It’s about being in the moment and just experiencing life while listening to music in the dark and only being alive – no expectations or desire. These are the good moments in life.

Like the good moments, the good, or in today’s case, great days, come when I’m grateful for the things I have and always will have. All we need is love is rather true – when we know we are loved there is hope and a feeling of greatness.

Today I laughed more than I have in a long time. I’ve enjoyed the small things, like my meals and the memes on Facebook posted by friends. The chats I’ve had today are worth more than all my things, it’s the real wealth I have. I’ll never have a lot of money and will never be able to just reward myself every day with stuff. However, I can have chats, texts, MEMEs and music in the dark. I will have the coffee ritual every morning that reminds me of family long lost to the grave, and the joy of my youth.

Tomorrow I may be sad, but today there is a great feeling of joy, love, warmth, acceptance, and the hand of God on my back. To have a low pain day is a bonus and just makes the day worth living well.

Thank you for this day. Thank you for the great people in my life. Thank you for the pleasures I enjoy so much on a day like this. Thank you for making me remember I don’t need to have stuff that takes money, I don’t have to be happy. This has been one of the best of days. I just hope I remember it, and I hope it continues for a few more days. Today I will be grateful.

Go with the Light and be in the hands of Love. Have a blessed and wonderful day. You are loved.
