Q&A

At what age did you start to realize you are mortal, and what happened?  Think I was 7. My grandma died in her bed. She was living with us at the time. It was the first time I thought "it all just ends one day". It kind of scared the hell out of me actually. spent many years fearing "the end" until I saw first hand there are way worse things than death. Have you ever felt embarrassed or humiliated over a thought you had despite the fact that you know no one actually knows what you are thinking or feeling? No. I've had a lot of strange thoughts of the decades, some very dark, some very kinky and so on - but I have never felt guilt over it. A thought is just that. I literally do not care what people think (or fantasize), I care about what they do to actual people. Thoughts are not wrong, unless they are harming you emotionally. What is the last thing you did that made you feel guilty?  Not give a $2 coin to a homeless guy because I to get coffee with it. What doe

Puzzle Update

Image
I've been using Jigsaws Galore for many years. I started recently to back up the puzzles I've done. In the past I never did and every time I switched computers or had to do a fresh reinstall of Windows, I'd have to start over with them. Not anymore, not I just toss in the files and start where I left off. I'd like to say I won't make any more puzzles for a very long time, but I said that at 2000, 2500, 3000 and now I'm at 4440 of them LOL. BTW most of these are not for trade. I had the ability to download them for personal use but not the right to distribute, so no can give them away. Only a couple folders have just my stuff in them. Here is my current list and counts.

Q&A

When did you realize that you wouldn't get a prom date?  While I was sitting in a rock by a fire with a bunch of others that did not go to prom, but instead elected to party. What would you say if you knew you're about to die?  The two million dollars is hidden in the... Why does predictability bore me? I enjoy those who are unpredictable and crave the enjoyment of it.  I was like that when I was younger. Now I want everything to stay the same and be predictable. About 25 years ago I became unable to work or do all the fun random stuff. I grew complacent. Try to hold on to this as long as you can, I remember it felt good to be alive back then. How close are we to judgement day?  It's constantly happening in my belief system. Your afterlife is keyed to how you lived this life. What you did to others or for others the most, will be what the next life is like. If you talking biblical, that does not happen until after the end times, you end up waiting to be judged and either de

The Sad Clown That Made Me Cry (Or Is That Mad Clown)

Image
Cowboy Bebop Season 1 Episode 8 "Sad Clown A-Go-Go" (the Netflix original that is), just made me cry. Yes real men do cry, it's good for you to feel emotions and to let out sadness. When the villain Mad Pierrot, who is literally named after a seventeenth century sad clown, thought to be the first sad clown on the stage. The full name from the original Cowboy Bebop was named after a character in a famous French movie from 1965 ( Pierrot Le Fou - or Pierrot the crazy one). Well, what can I say, the villain was played so convincingly by Josh Randall, was fully and completely believable to me. His acting of the character and the emotional inflections where so realistic that I forgot in the final fight scene that it was a TV show. When Spike Spiegel stabs him in the leg and he breaks down and cries "why Mommy?" I felt his pain and started to cry. It's not often that I feel for the bad guy in the end, but this one kind of gave me the feels. I was also kind of an

Not So Instant Communications

Image
We all think email is delivered at light speed. We don't realize sometimes, it gets stuck in the system for a while. My bill comes out on the 16th (yes this is how much unlimited talk and 1gb of data is up here in Canada), but it was delivered on the 22nd. 5 days after the email was generated and sent. It normally is in my inbox on the 16th when I wake up, and I wake up early. It's like texts. I have sent a text in the past and it was not received until 2 days later. I was actually out for coffee with the guy I sent it too when he got it LOL. As well one time I sent a text that I was ready to be picked up. 5 minutes later I got picked up and as I got into the car BING goes his phone and it's the text I sent. I love that is tells me it was "received", when in reality it most likely has not been. And as well, received is not the same as they read it. It would be easy to notify when it is looked at, instead of when the system thinks they got it.

The Moon In The Morning Sky

Image
Not a perfect shot, as it was out my window and the window closed. But it came out well enough. Got to love the moon. My camera has no "moon mode", so taking a shot at night is almost out of the question. I am really not great at manual mode, so it would take more time to set up a night shot of the moon than I am willing to deal with. It's amazing to me that some people think the moon is only visible at night and not in the day. Must be because most people just don't bother not look and don't notice it.

Makes Me Wonder

Image
This was in the laundry room. An open can of pop. Have the feeling someone was not following the rules and did not have their mask on. I don't think it's worth getting a warning over, and if you get 2 of them, the third time you get booted out. Just not a good plan to go with no mask.

I Got Stormicorn For My Collection

Image
Stormicorn, or Pusheens little sister Stormy crossed with a Unicorn. It does not quite look like the perfect example in the photo on Amazon, but it appears to be the real deal. She is full on cute and adorable. IT's 8 inches tall, and exactly twice the size of her counter part that sits on the desk beside her - that being Stormy with sunglasses. The sunglasses one is part of a set and Pusheen in sunglasses is on the other side of my monitor. It's not as fun as the Pusheenicorn, but I love it a lot.

What's on My Phone

There is also a note pad, a news widget and a calendar.

Turning Off the Game Junk in Windows 10

There is kind of a lot of junk running just for the "gaming" end of windows 10. Well I don't play games and I don't want this crap turned on. So here is how to turn it off, and lets hope an update does not turn the stuff back on or I'll have to do it again.  Right click start menu and click run Type regedit and hit return Click HKY_LOCAL_MACHINE Click SYSTEM Click Control Click Services Find GamingServices and click it. On the right panel you will see a bunch of stuff. Right click Start and select modify. Change the value to 4. Do the same for "FamingServicesNet", "XboxGipSvc", "xboxgip", "XboxNerApiSvc", "XblGameSave". This should turn off all the game crap you don't need. Warning - do exactly this and don't try it on other things, the game apps are not integral to windows, but some apps are. If you disable the wrong thing, you can break windows.

How to Get Rid of My Phone on Windows 10

In Windows 10 you may have uninstalled the 100% of no use to most of us app "Your Phone". Personally I don't ever want to text from my windows 10 device or use an app on my phone on my PC. I literally so no point to it wasting resources. You may have noticed it's back after you removed it. Well that's thanks to an update where they once again forced you to have crap you don't want or need. So do this to remove it: Right click the start menu Click Windows PowerShell (Admin) Coy this command Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.YourPhone -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage Paste it when the command line prompt arrears and hit return then wait for it to be removed. Reset the computer and it should be out of your life.

Jigsaw Puzzle Update

Image
Yeah, this is over organized LOL. But ya know. I'm also going to remove the folders I'm done with from the puzzle folder on my PC and just store them as a ZIP file. For some reason, I don't want to just delete them, I want to have them. Digital hording is real folks. Just like the 7,000 or so photos I have I'll never look at again in my life. Again, I'm using " Jigsaws Galore " for the puzzles. I very recommend it. Not sure about it working on Windows 11 with no bugs, as I am still on Windows 10, but it's perfect on 10. The app can make a puzzle with 4 to 64,000 pieces. The one I just did with 500 pieces the other day, they where tiny. I can't imagine 64,000 on a 1920 x 1080 screen.

I Can't Stop Wanting Stuff

Image
I'm feeling sorry for myself. My birthday is in a few days and I'm literally completely broke. This is the first year ever where I won't be able to get some pizza or whiskey or anything. My friends will be getting me a cup of coffee, but that's about it. I should be happy to have them to be with on that day, but I am feeling down. The worst part is, I gave money to someone who needed it more, they had no food. This should negate the feeling of oh poor me - but it's still there. I realize there are a vast number of people worse off than me, but that fact does not lower my self imposed suffering. I also can't seem to GTFOI and just be happy for what I have. Society has told my my entire life I need "things" and "money" to be happy and it's so deep rooted that I feel bad. The other thing is, I knew this may happen, so I already had fun at the start of the month and I got a shinny new stuffed toy for myself. Yet because I can't have my us

Little Pusheen is Watching Me Sleep

Image
This is Pusheen. She is one of the original 6 inch plush toys, before Gund took over making them. She is my favorite thing in the world. If there is a fire, I'm grabbing my USB hard drive and her on the way out. She watches me sleep. Every now and then I'll knock her off the night stand in my sleep and when I wake up and she is not there, I kind of freak out. I'll literally say "PUSHEEN" out loud and start to look for her. I know, I'm almost 55 and my favorite thing on earth is a stuffed toy. I've got a bunch of stuffed toys, but this one is special. When I'm in a lot of pain, or having a bad panic attack, I'll hold her and listen to music on my headphones. It helps a lot. When I'm feeling silly, I'll walk around with her out in front of me and pretend she is flying (super Pusheen). I've got my coping measures you see. Thing is I have an above normal IQ, but several people have seen all the stuffed toys and you can tell they think I'

Hay Amazon, This Is Not My Photo

Image
I've got an older TV and it is not a smart TV. So I have a Fire Stick in it. You can see it on the right side about mid way up. For a screen saver it shows my "favorite" photos I've uploaded to Amazon Photos. Here's the deal, this is not one of my photos and it keeps showing up as one. Before it came up on my screen, I'd never seen it before. LOL. I'm told I'm not alone in this happening. Got to wonder if anyone has seen any "personal" photos pop onto the screen from other peoples uploads?

The Last of My Rossa Coffee

Image
Got into my last pack of Lavazza Rossa. It will last a week. The stuff is better than the stuff I got to replace it, but dang I don't want to pay almost $6 a bag for it when I can pay $3.50 for the other stuff. I like the one in the gold bag better but It's almost $8 a bag right now. I pay a lot of nice coffee, because it's a very great pleasure in my life to drink a cup or two a day. A lot of people I know say that had to get used to coffee, but I liked it from day one. The first time I drank it, it was hot dark joy. I've always liked it better black, but now and then if it sucks at the restaurant, I will put some cream in it - never sugar. I wish I knew this stuff existed and had a moka pot when Mom was alive, she would have loved this strong rich coffee.

My Ugly Feet

Image
The inside of both my ankles have these veins going on. There is also a lump there that is not so small. Need to get at my toenails and remove all this dead skin. It's hard for me to do this as I'm disabled and it gives me a lot of back and neck pain to get at my feet. There is this lump at the side of my big toe on the left foot. It is a cyst of some kind I'm told. I've got another on my right wrist. For over a week now my feet have been kind of red. It does not show well here, but kind of does. The look much more red in real life. For some time they also had a very strong pain like a bunch of needles stabbing me, and a pulsating feeling. Should really see my family doctor about this. And yes I know - dead skin. Trust me it's been worse.

Caffè Gioia Instead of Lavazza This Month

Image
This is the stuff I got because it was less money for a good coffee than the one I normally got. The one I normally got went up almost $2 a package, and being these are only 200g and last a week making coffee, it became too much to justify. This is rather enjoyable. It's not as good as the Lavazza, but it's way better than the normal stuff I can get around here, and it comes to my door. I had it a while back and did not seem to enjoy it as much as I do now. Not sure why, but it's a good thing I like it a lot, as I don't want to spend a bunch more when I don't need too. I know "your poor, don't spend on this". Well it's one of the few joys I have in my life and it's something I can deeply enjoy every morning. So to me it's worth the money and lets face it, it's $20 a month for an entire month of pleasure once a day.

Stop Chrome From Crashing During Video Play

Image
Launch Chrome, up near the top right corner is 3 dots, click them. Click "Settings". Click "Advanced" Click "System" Toggle the 2 switches shown below. You will be prompted to Relaunch, do so. Now the acceleration is turned off and the apps will no longer run in the background when Chrome is not running. Turning off acceleration will help prevent the computer hard locking while you are watching a video in Chrome. This is a rather random happening, but it does happen. As for the apps, they do NOT need to be running in the background, this just makes Chrome boot up faster if you launch it again. With the apps not running, the system has more resourced for your work and will slightly speed up the system. To be honest, for me it's more about the memory the apps take up, than the speed - you will probably not notice any faster run times. But they do take up a lot of memory. When you only have 8GB like me, and run things that are memory intensive, they can b

Jigsaw Puzzle Update

Image
Between 6am and 10:30am I did 8 300 piece puzzles. Think this afternoon I'm going to break out an 800 piece one and see how long it takes me. Like I mentioned before, it's more easy to do on the PC than in real life. You hit a button and all the pieces line up around the screen and none of them are rotated unless you tell it to do that. You can also make it sort by color as well if you want but I don't.

Flipping Credit Card Company

Image
A is the payment I put on it when there was $71 over the limit. You can see, they know it was made and is listed. It was out of my bank and in theirs by the time I took the screen cap. B The amount left on the card is obviously under $600 (my limit - yes I'm poor). C Available credit is still $71 over the limit, so no going to the store for me. I've not had this happen before, but evidently it does happen a LOT with some people. The explanation is "the payment did not post to the card yet". Well, how the hell did it know to change the amount that was left on the card, and NOT post to the dang credit card at the same time? This is B.S. The worst part is, I need stuff and it says this can last for a week or MORE. DANG. If it is not fixed tonight when the system does it's thing (about 5pm my time), then I'm flipping out on someone. I called them this morning and they where of no use. The fellow on the other end of the line was talking extremely quiet, and with th

The Climate Has Changed

Image
On Nov, 2, it normally would be way more cold and we would have snow by now. The last 5 or 6 years no snow until much later on. Climate has definitely changed here. When I was a child in the 1970's and a teen in the 1980's, there would be snow up to my knees at least and Dec and Jan would be in the -40 or -50 range. Now if we hit -30 we call it a cold snap and most of the winter I don't need a heavy jacket at all. As for snow, if we get more than 4 or 5 inches it's a point of interest. As it is right now, It's -4C and I could go out in my light jacket and be comfortable. As for snow, there has been almost no sign of it. It tossed a few flakes at us last week, but it instantly melted. Gone are the days you could not see the houses from the street, because the snow was piled so high. As well, it seems to be a heck of a lot dryer now. The crops are not so good these days because of it. I am just rather glad I never had children. I can't imagine how the world will

The Time I Met Leonard Cohen

Image
In the mid 1980's I was at an art show in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. The big draw of the evening was Leonard Cohen was going to be there. I was a nobody, but my friend at the time was rather known, although he never had his own showing. So I ended up as his plus one. I was into wire bending at the time and for the amount of money I could make off of the stuff I made, it was hardly worth it. My best piece took a year of spare time to complete and was a crucifix made out of rusty barbed wire. It was OK, but I was not great at it. I sold it for $150. But back to the topic at hand. Leonard Cohen the "star of the show" or so he thought, was the most rude and arrogant person I had ever met to that point in time in my life. He treated all the women at the show five times worse than the men as well. It was obvious he had nothing but contempt for women to me. He also tried very hard to look like the most intelligent person who ever lived. An older man who I later learned was an act
