I'm Not OK With Cops Breaking Up Homeless Camps

This is not my political blog, that is normally kept separate, but I want to say this here. I find it important to me to say this under my own name.

Large cites and some not so bog cites send cops to destroy homeless camps. This is their property - they own this stuff. That tent and that sleeping bag is personal property. It is protected by the law against people coming and destroying it - this is against the law and a bloody crime. Yet here are the police tossing the homeless peoples stuff into a garbage truck and destroying it.

Lets set aside the cops full on breaking the law in a public setting were the entire world can see them. Let's talk about morality. Any human with integrity would want to get these disadvantaged and marginalized people help - not destroy their lives.

I get the entire thing were it's a fire hazard and a health hazard. But for these people, there is little to no choice but to be in these popup communities. To offer them no safer alternative is bullshit and draconian. This is pure predictor behavior. Any person with a moral compass is full on going to say, "no I'm not going to do this, I'm not going to hurt these people because city council wants us to."

These cops and the political body that sent them need to be charged with the crimes of destruction of private property and harassment and in some cases assault. This is under no sensible realization and OK situation to be doing.

To be honest, if this was a loved one doing this shit, I'd full on cut them out of my life until I died - I would never let them have access to me again. To me they would be a violent thug from that point on.

I think society needs to step the fuck up here and demand that there be places that are safe for the homeless. In some places it's starting to happen with the setting up of tiny house communities. They are safe heated buildings with power. They can charge their devices and read under a light and sleep in a warm place safe from the elements. The homes are spaced out and not clustered so it's not dangerous. In some cases, this is tax money going to build them - but in most places it's funded in other manners.

I have to ask, "where the fuck do you want them to go?" Do you expect them to go off end just self terminate so people with money can not have to see the downside of our system. We create most of the homeless problem then demonize them for being alive - literally.

I would be full on arrested if I saw this shit happening because I'd jump in there and flip the fuck out on the cops. I'm disabled and I know I'd be harmed by do so, but I'm all if the the cops here did this in front of me.

To sum it up, "YEE HAW, FUCK THE LAW."
