Mass Shootings - Canada VS USA
Canada 70 mass shootings in 25 years
USA 2025 (8 months in) 268
268x25=4700 (very low estimate)
Population in million
Canada 39
USA 333
USA has about 8.5 times the people
70x8.5=596 shootings in 25 years scaling up for population.
The approximate estimate is a factor of 7.9 times the shootings per equivalent population in the USA. Remember, this is based on a low estimate. A mass shooting in both countries is counted as 4 or more victims. It's interesting that government statistics show extremely few mass shootings in the USA, but independent sources show vastly more.
So is gun control actually working in Canada, or is our culture just way less violent minded? I don't have enough data on that point to tell. I just know that over 90% of illegal guns in Canada are smuggled from the USA. I guess we need to tell the Americans to stop fucking around and police their boarders better. Oh wait, that's our job, just like it's their job to police drugs flowing into their country.
This is all statistical estimation on the part of the USA as I don't find consistent data. Officially in 2023 there where only 12 mass shootings, but independent sources, it's very much higher then that. As well, not all in the USA is recorded it seems (according to several sources). They sure as hell don't all make the news in either country - To be honest in my life I can remember 4 mass shootings, not 70 in just 25 years.
