In the Blink of an Eye (2026) A Naked Review

This movie is set in three time frames that each span many years, the third time frame very many years.

The first time frame is prehistoric times with Neanderthal and Modern Humans living together. The second time frame is modern time. The third time frame is the distant future.

The time frames are tied together with an Acorn as a device to link them. The first encounter is in the distant past when it is made into an adornment and placed into the hand the deceased male Neanderthal before being buried in the ground. It is fond by the one person in modern time when she digs it out of the palm of the man from prehistory. In the final time frame, it is a gold Acorn that is given as a token of carrying on new generations to help humanity survive in a new world.

In all three timelines, there is trouble that is almost insurmountable but with adaptation and ingenuity is overcome. They also all have generations passing on to the next.

There is an introduction of a wonder drug that can change humans into close to immortal and they live thousands of years. In the third timeline the one taking care of the future of humanity is a person who has an enhanced lifespan.

The wisdom that what makes life worth living is it ends one day is stated strongly in this film. The final sequence has elements of ancient ritual and advanced cities together and makes a final tie to bind humanity over the countless generations.

The script in this is amazing and one of the few times you see an advanced AI willing to die for humanity. The acting is also outstanding and drew me into the story deeply. Effects and sets were also outstanding. I highly recommend this film to people of any age – if you watch with children you may need to explain some parts to them.

IMDB currently has this movie at 6.1/10 – I am going to give it an 8/10. I’m very glad this was recommended to me by a friend (Thank you Ravenclaw).
