37 Self-Exploration Prompts Answered
1. Do you like who you are right now?
I have a deep understanding of exactly who I am and my worth to myself and to those who love me.
2. When was the last time you laughed really hard?
About a week ago when I watched a movie that I’ve not seen since I was a teen, “Carry on Doctor (1967).”
3. What would you truly regret not doing if you died tonight?
Nothing. You have no regrets when you die. It’s a reset and this world is gone from your mind.
4. What advice has someone in your family given, and that you have taken just in time?
Nothing. The best advice was, “be yourself” and don’t pretend to be someone else, but it dd not sink in until my late 20s and I have been way better off because of it. I lost the anger in my life and became the best me in time.
5. What were the top three lessons you learned the hard way?
Fundamentalist churches hurt people like me. I am deeply loved by many I know and I should be OK with myself. Never pretend to be someone you are not, it’s damaging.
6. What would you do if your biggest fear came true?
Sign the forms for medical assistance in death. My biggest fear is terminal cancer. I’ve watched too many loved ones rot away and I am not up for that.
7. What would you do with your remaining days if you had only a year left to live?
What I’m doing now, but I’d get a new computer on credit and let them sort it out after I die and can’t finish paying it off. I’d also let people know just how much they mean to me and I’d set a video to unlisted and have a close friend send out the link to people I love when I’m gone.
8. Are you a servant of money? Or does money serve you?
I am a slave for money. It will never serve me. I’m poor and live on very little money. I never have enough and have to rely on others at least once a month.
9. Why are you afraid of being true to yourself when others are around?
I’m not. I am always who I really am. I’m not fake and I don’t fear rejection. If people don’t like me, fine, have a nice life with me not in it.
10. What are the three things that you are most grateful for?
My friends, they are my reason to stay alive in this horrible life. My apartment, as I can afford it and don’t have to worry if I can eat this month after rent comes out. The health care system – I’m full on sure I’d be dead on the streets if I lived in the USA. I’d never have gotten the help I needed with mental illness down there and I’d have ended up homeless and dead long ago.
11. Have you done something recently that you could be proud of?
Yes, I was there for someone who needed to talk, and I spent a long time with them on the phone the other day. They are going to be OK now I think – that is something to be proud of in my mind.
12. When was the last time you extended kindness to somebody?
Today. I go out of my way to be nice to people all the time. It helps people who are struggling to have kind words used on them and to see you smile.
13. What question do you want to know the answer to if it will help humanity?
Will we ever be the Star Trek utopia that is earth in the shows? Or will we just keep being Apes with rocks?
14. What do you really want from life?
Happiness, comfort, and a sense of safety.
15. What aspects of your personality still need improvement?
I don’t get angry often, but when I do, I flip a switch and just melt down. It’s happened twice in the last couple months, and I can live without it. I understand I can’t help it, it’s part of Autism, but it sucks and it can hurt people at times.
16. Must you take other people's advice?
No, you don’t have to take advice from people you don’t know and trust. You don’t have to take advice from anyone at all, but it can help you to do just that when it’s in your best interest.
17. What annoys you the most?
A baby crying. It gets into my soul and twists my insides. I hate the sound and I’m glad I never had a baby; it would have driven me mad. It bugs me deeply.
18. Do others find you likeable?
Like everyone, some do and others don’t. Some people think that buffoon with a spray tan is likable when he is an evil jerk only out for himself and he’s literally said he doesn’t care about anyone – yet the like him. As I say some will like me and others won’t. It’s part of life. Most of the time it’s something completely stupid that people use to not like someone.
19. When was the last time you fell head over heels with love?
Many years ago. That being said, about the year 2018 I met my best friend in the world. We completed each other. If we had met 25 years before, we would have been married for certain – but we both had it with relationships of a romantic nature and kept it as friends.
20. Are you enriching other people's lives with what you do?
I do try to do just that. I do things to give people an excuse to let out some emotion and share with the world. I also give them an excuse to have some fun. I think I make other people’s lives better, and this is my function in life.
21. How meaningful is your life?
I affect others in a positive manner. I give of my time, energy and self. This has meaning to them and to me.
22. What makes life meaningful for you?
The people I interact with day to day. They give me happiness and self-worth.
23. Would you lay down my life for somebody?
I honestly can’t tell you if I would or not. There is a chance I’d not think twice and just act to save someone, but there is also the chance self-preservation kicks in and I don’t act. I’d like to say I would, but I don’t actually know and would not know until it happened.
24. How much money would you be willing to give to those in need if you won the lottery?
If I hit the $70,000,000 on the Lotto MAX, I’d give most of it away to help others. I actually have a list just in case. My friends and I would be comfortable for the rest of our days and charities would get scheduled donations.
25. Are you worthy of being loved?
Of course I am, almost everyone is. But not everyone. Some are only worthy of loathing and despise. But for almost all of us, we are valid beings who deserve to be loved. I just wish people would know this and accept the love given to them every day, instead of missing that It’s happening.
26. What talents/skills do you have that can do better than anyone else?
Jigsaw puzzles. I’m crazy good at them for no valid reason. I’m a slow thinking so it makes little sense that I can do a jigsaw puzzle as fast as I can. I can put together a 1000-piece puzzle in 5.5 hours on a good day.
27. What are the things that put you off?
People who hurt others or animals for their enjoyment or just because they are violent minded wastes of skin. People who harm others online with their words and actions because there is distance between them and it’s the only way their sad little selves can feel any power in a life where they have no power. Music that is degrading of others, there is no use for that nonsense in my life.
28. What is a peaceful life to you?
A nicer apartment. A few new toys to enjoy and create with. The money to be comfortable and have all the supports I need in life. This would bring peace to my conflicted mind. There is always the harm of fear for my future and for my body that prevents peace.
29. What are you most afraid of about life?
That my body is failing me and I may end up having to be in a home. I’d rather be dead frankly. I know it’s happening and the best I can do is slow it down.
30. If you were never born. What would be different about the world?
Several people would be dead now for one. Others would have less of a good life without me. I am sounding self-important, but I make a difference, and that is good feeling. My being in their lives makes them a bit better.
31. Would you enjoy watching a movie made about your life?
I would find it to be rather uninteresting, I think. I’ve lived it, why would I want to watch it?
32. Is your definition of success the same as everyone else's?
No. Most people think things and money are a success, and I don’t. I think creating a better life for others in any small way we can is a success. Things are nice, but they are not the measure of success by far.
33. Do you have a personal mission?
Spread as much positivity as I can. Yes, I do go on about the bad things in life, but I also send out joy and encouragement.
34. How would you describe the perfect day?
This changes with my mood, but right now, my friends and I around a fire pit and sharing some food, drink and laughs and watching the sun go down over the country sky – far away from the city.
35. What are you willing to go the extra mile for?
Myself. I need to do just that. I’m in a situation where my body is failing me and I need to get into a better state of being physically.
36. What is your top negative habit that you must change to something better?
I would have to say swearing. I just blurt out the bad words as it were. If I could stop doing that, I would be a slightly better me, I think.
37. Who do you look up to?
There are a couple of people in my life that I see as a hero. They will never see themselves this way, but I know better. They have lived a life of service and affected many lives in a positive manner.
