Time Spent In The ER In Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

Screenshot from my health records app. I went to the hospital fearing an infection in my leg - turns out it was not, but it's still a mystery, as what they  said it is does not make sense.

Aug 7, 2026: 8 Hours 23 Minutes - This is from check-in to discharge, actual time is probably 30 minutes longer each time as it takes time to check you in and get you out the door. This time waiting for a cab was not much of a deal, it was rather quick and maybe 10 minutes of me waiting by the door to see the cab show up. Had a bit of an effort to get in the cab, but nothing unexpected. The time here was 90% waiting in the waiting room. The time I spent in a room and with a doctor was very short. Below is my longest time in the ER to date.

Apr 14, 2023: 18 Hours 1 Minute - 3 Hour Wait For My Ride, Total About 21 Hours

Spent a good 12 hours in the waiting room and a hell of a long time being treated and so on. The enormous time waiting for a cab was interesting - they where down to 1 car and had a high demand. After 3 hours another cab came to pick stuff up for transport and the driver was told my situation and asked me if I wanted to take her cab home. So I have her the voucher and she took me home.

But this time was not painful as hell. The above time was, as I was in a wheelchair what was very small and I'm very big, so it was hurting me, and it made my back start to spasm. I asked for the only thing that helps for that (muscle relaxant) and was told no. Not like 1 bloody pill is going to get me high FFS, and I would not be suffering today, many hours later, but here I am with back spasms - and can't afford to order in meds.

Got to admit, other than the no to the medication, this is not the fault of staff - they are doing what they can. The hospital is much too small for the size of community and is overwhelmed many times. The ambulances just kept coming for example and from not only Moose Jaw, but communities outside of our limits. We need a bigger hospital and way more staff or this will just keep getting worse as time goes on.
