This is a list of 25 movies from the 1970’s that were sociologically important in their time. They were said to predict how society will eventually evolve. Some of the elements of these movies already exist and others seem to be moving toward still. In some cases, it’s speculation on how nature will turn on us, or how technology is to become completely in control. Of course there is the rise of the machine. There is also in one case the fact that it predicted virtual reality decades before it could possibly have become a reality. One even puts forth that we are not actually real, but a simulation. I think today’s movies don’t say enough, they rely on flash and action, and not story and plot. These movies heavily rely on the story and plot. They speak to us like very few modern films do.
