Goodbye, Father (1996) A Review

This is a touching film out of Portugal. It starts with the main character, a young boy, pondering the absence of his father. The father is rarely there for him. One day, his father comes to him and says they are going on vacation – just the two of them. When they reach an island where they are on vacation, the father admits he wants to know the boy better and that it was wrong not to have been there more. He also admits he’s going to die and there is not much time left for him. The boy also meets an older boy who teaches him about many things. This is a true coming of age movie.
