The Pupil (1996) A Review
This is the story of a boy who is in a rich family. The family is very pretentious and selfish. The boy, on the other hand, is very kind, and in touch with his emotions. He is tutored by a young man who the parents pay to teach him. The two became very close and in the light of a modern eye this seems inappropriate. The parents are upset by the relationship and want to terminate the tutor. This movie is more about the two growing in each other’s company and friendship. The tutor in the end comes away with more than the boy in my mind. He learns that sacrifice is sometimes the best part of caring for someone. The tutor is in fact more than just a friend to the boy, there is a family like bond between them. The boy takes a big step toward manhood and thee tutor has his life changed for the better.
