June Blogging Challenge Day 26
What service are you grateful for?
I'm going to have to say publicly funded health care. I've had to rely on the health care system hundreds of times in the last 25 years and if I lived in the USA, I'd be crippled in debt from it. Co-pays would not be affordable to a person on as low an income as I have on disability in Saskatchewan.
There have been some incidents of note, like spending 23 bloody hours in the ER and not being fed or offered a drink of any kind. But for the most part, it's been of great help to me in as timely a fission as can be expected.
I rely on my family doctor, a heart specialist and the nice folks at the ER in my local hospital. Without these people, I'd have died many years ago. Not even joking, I'd literally have been dead if it where not for a medication I'm on and the help of a heart doctor.
In my many years of having to go to the hospital, and seeing mom in a care home, I've only encountered one medical professional I thought needed to be fired from their job. Well, there was the radiologist that for YEARS fucked up moms x-rays and said it was a lung infection and his negligence killed her. But he was out of there soon after and a review of all his cases took place. I never enough thought to take it to court - I was too buys with taking care of mom and the emotional drain of watching her die. It's way too late now.
But for the vast majority of it, I had great service and I've been kept alive and out of a care home - so I'm good.
