Elbows Up Canada AKA We Came Together
I hate to say, but I'm 58 and I literally can't remember when Canada was more together as a country. Most of my memories where provinces being divided over stupid things and a couple of them wanting to separate for what I think is not valid reasons.
If Trump has done anything, it's bring us together in a way no one else ever did. It's amazing because no Canadian politician has granted out people such cohesion.
We are going out of our way to buy as much Canadian things as we possibly can in our day to day lives. This has been great for the local economy as a lot of people have stepped it up to buy local as well.
People here loved to holiday in the USA, but a hell of a lot of people won't be crossing the boarder any time soon for any reason. The travel advisory on the Government of Canada web page does not seem to be needed, as a large number of people canceled plans to vacation down south - instead, most of them are going to do it in Canada the next few years. Being this will save them money due to the exchange of money rates, it's a win-win.
The other thing is, I know of at least 7 people who are now going to be moving to Canada and becoming Canadians and working and living up here from now on. They are all well educated people BTW. I have no idea about how many are planning on this, but I'm glad for them, and I'm sure their life will be much more safe up here - and less chance of having their lifestyle made a crime by people who don't understand the first thing about the teachings of Jesus, and the fact that the USA founding fathers where seriously all about separation of church and state.
I'm in the market for a refurbished PC and the price is going nuts because most of them are from the USA, but you know who keeps changing the numbers ever other day on his little tariffs, even though being it's reconditioned, I doubt the price of copper is effecting it that much.
Unlike a lot of stores in the USA several giants up here are currently eating the tariffs on imported food. I'm full on expecting as soon as the late fall, for veggies and fruit that normally come from the USA to become rare for reasons other than the tariffs.
Being I'm hearing no end to the stories about people from out of country being harassed by the law in the USA, I can't see a lot of people ever going back at this point. Tourists being kicked out of the country because they had no hotel booked, even though they where going to backpack the state they landed in. A few of them seem to be valid reasons to turf people, but a lot of them seem to be ridiculous. In any event, if I ever get rich by some miracle, I'm never crossing that "imaginary line" in my life. I'd go to a lot of places on this earth, but not there.
Don't get me wrong - on average, we love the people across that boarder. We wish them the best and want them to be safe. We pray for them and give them support online. But politically it's an eternal dead zone for a hell of a lot of people now. I wish I could bring my friends up here, so they could be safe and in peace, but it's not going to happen - it turns out it's rather hard to get into Canada these days.
Oh well, Peace and Love be with all those affected negatively around the world by this madness and greed.
