10 MOVIES I THINK EVERYONE NEEDS TO SEE

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

{9/10} Dude, this is a must see - but do it with friends and have drinks in hand. Sit there and make fun of it the entire time. That being said, visually this is a hell of a good movie.

Nosferatu (1922)

{10/10} This is one of my all time favorite movies. It is a silent move though - so some might not like that. It was the first real vampire movie and stands up to anything made today. If you can, get the version with the heavy metal score - it's just better that way.

Children of the Corn (1984)

{8/10} This movie scared me when I first saw it at the drive-in. Now there is no way it's doing to do that, but it stands up after all these years as a tense movie that I just loved the feel of. Not to mention it sparked sayings that are part of the culture now LOL. This movie is referenced in a great deal of movies and TV shows.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982)

{7/10} OK, I know what you are saying and that you are rolling your eyes. The acting in this as most of the Star Trek Movies is a bit flat, with the exception of Khan. The part is played by a master of his craft and I have to wonder why he never got more rolls.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2015)

{10/10} This movie moved me deep inside. It's not an action film, in fact I don't think most men will like this one. That being said, I loved it. It was beautiful and moving and romantic and sad all at the same time.

Easy Rider (1969)

{9/10} Well this is part of history I think. I mean what other movie had the impact of this one? Not that many. It is a true look at a lost generation, the likes of we will never see again. Also there is a deep look at how society treats those it does not agree with. The story line stands up to today's culture as well.

Apocalypse Now (1979) [redux version from 2001 is the best to watch]

{10/10} As I said the Redux version is the best as it literally changes the feel of the movie and makes the ending more understandable. This movie is a work of art and a one of a kind. The way it was shot and the acting are close to the best you will ever see. It all comes together to make a masterpiece of a film.

THX 1138 (1971)

{10/10} Again, most people won't get this film at all. It is a look at how it was thought society will eventually end up and a desire to break free from the limits of society. If you look at how medicated we have become and how we are slowly moving toward the absolute control of everything we do and say, this movie makes a lot of sense in the end.

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) [Trigger warning]

{8/10} This is Film Noir at it's best. The dark an moody setting of the film and the over done acting hits you over the head with the point of this movie. I have to say, some of you will have a hard time watching this one. The scene in question is implied and you don't actually see what happens but you are left 100% sure of what happens. The love/hate relationship is also something to behold.

Life of Pi (2012)

{9/10} Well, I just loved this movie and the fact that the story is more important than the reality of the situation is the entire point. Visually it's a great movie and the acting was spot on. The CGI was also amazing. I love 2 people in a room stories and this is one of the best of them.

  1. I've heard of all but one of these, but I've only seen Children of the Corn and Nosferatu lol. I think a gem of a film is the 1948 version of Hamlet with Laurence Olivier. I went through a period when I was a teenager that I would watch it every night.
